Global News 20th May

One engineering school in Japan had 93% graduates that fielded 2600 job offers. That is because of the huge labour shortage in that country. Japan has an ageing economy, in results, they lose about 6% of their workforce every decade.  What's more, the government doesn't want to hire any foreign workers. Only people from nearest countries like China or the Philippines can enter some training programs. Unfortunately, they're not treated very well.  Specialist says Japan will have a serious economic problem in the future if they don't change their immigrant's policy.

At first I thought that Japan must have a brilliant education system but in reality there are simply to many workplaces to fill. I think, it's a problem that must be solved as soon as it's possible. I do understand that the government want to create a strong country without immigrants but is it possible in their economic situation? Japan should at least try to let other people into their country, I don't think Chinese and Japanese culture is as different as for example, Polish and Arabic.

words:
1. stagnation = no movement, no progress
If the economy starts to stagnate again, the government will be pushed to change their policy.
2. remarkable = impressive, significant
Japan has just released some remarkable statistics.
3. demand = I have no idea what synonym fits here :(
Why Japan had such a high demand for university graduates?
