TED ''On being wrong''

-we're stuck in a feeling of being right > error blindness
-"getting sth wrong mean that sth is wrong with us''
-feeling/belief of being on a right side can lead to very dangerous things ex: surgeon, wrong leg
-stages : 1. show info and wait for agreement
              2. idiots
              3. evil
-look out and say "wow, maybe i'm wrong?"

FASHION, SPORT OR BOTH?

Sport has always been a part of our lives, but some things actually changed. For example: nowadays, we put on active wear clothes while in ancient Greece men haven't at all. That's a fact, they didn't wear anything while they were exercising. Obviously naked person in the gym in XXI century would look rather crazy, but the point is that sport's industries are more focused on a ''looks'' than on the usefulness. Why? Because potential consumers do it.
Currently, the free most powerful brands are Adidas (since 1924), Nike (1964) and Puma (1948). They all started from shoes and ended up on accessories like water bottles. *Fun fact: The founder of Puma is Adidas's ones brother.*
Adidas and Nike were definitely more successful in the aspect of money and popularity until now. At the moment surprisingly Puma's shares price is almost 2 times bigger than Adidas's and 5x bigger than Nike's! They owe it to Rihanna, who is the new creative director, but also supermodels Cara Delevingne, Gigi Hadid, and famous for her sister's name Kylie Jenner.
The crucial reason why Puma became desirable is the way they showcase products.
Have a look at Cara Delevingne:

And here regular high fashion photoshoots:

Isn't it too much? I believe active wear is supposed to comfortable, breathable, and light weight, basically made for workouts while it looks like we can wear it as a normal piece of everyday outfit.
What I mean is that it's promoted not like a sport product but as a fashion item.
What's more, brands are running in a race by adding more shine, colours, and making logo appear bigger. They no longer improve quality (when they do, it's a pair of shoes once in 6 months, made for better running experience) and that's it.
Appearance is getting advantage over utility. I'm not blaming these brands. That's our sad, materialistic reality.. companies make money on foolish people and what should be changed is our mind-set, and deep in my heart I wish it will.

WHAT'S HAPPENING?

What I would like to present in today's post is something that we can call an epidemic of simplicity and limitation which are dominating over the other branches of fashion tree. What's more, a trend that is created around it.
Lately, I've noticed that a big number of (mainly) young people is choosing only four colours when it comes to shopping. These are: classics such as black and white, but what is new, baby pink/ powder pink and nude/beige. Consumers are especially interested in over sized, pretty comfortable hoodies, blouses or jumpers. They often say "no, I don't really wear colours, I prefer basics". There is absolutely nothing wrong in that point of view, but when I see almost every single person in a light pink hoodie,well.. I feel sick. When we all wear the same, we lose individuality and our own beauty.   On the other hand, I can't really help it. People follow the trend to fell fashionable and confident but at the same time they're blinded by that.
Of course brands are waiting for apogee of any trend to please as many buyers as it's possible and let's be honest, to make money. One of them is ''Champion". With us since 1919, originally made for athletes. Not well known in Poland but famous in United States.

This company is still growing, I've seen many youtubers like Amanda Steele, celebrities such as Kylie Jenner, bloggers and my peers wearing Champion's products (recently, it also appeared in some stores in Warsaw).  Congratulations for brand, but coming back to the problem, there is clearly a deficiency of basically everything. No patterns, no colours, no cut, style? What's happening? I do understand that not everybody can afford to buy designers's pieces but hey, do we have to look exactly the same?
I personally praise this trend but not on such a huge scale. Everything has its moderation.
Maybe the actual reason of this particular behavior is caused by some psychological motives, but because I see fashion as a way of expression, as art, my opinion is negative in this case. I'm not sorry for that. I want people to be aware of their own decisions even when it's just about wearing certain clothes.

HISTORY OF CLASSICS

The only brands which can be awarded with this title are Louis Vuitton and Coco Chanel. The reason of that is because their classic bags took fashion industry to another level.
Let's find out how it all started.

1) Louis Vuitton
At the age of sixteen, in 1837, Louis decided to become a trunk maker. He arrived to Paris and worked for Monsieur Maréchal. At that time travellers were hiring people to pack their things for them so it was a great opportunity for Vuitton. He very soon became a valued craftsman and finally opened his own workshop. Originally Vuitton's bags were supposed to carry wine glasses and alcohol, that's why they were very good quality products.

As time was passing by, descendants of Louis Vuitton continued running family business. His son George Vuitton in 1986 created famous Monogram Canvas that is known all over the world.  The unique pattern is composed of flowers, a universal and timeless symbol, and the entwined Louis Vuitton initials.

It was just the beginning of a great successful journey.
In 2016 company raised over 10 billion dollars, which I think is pretty impressive.

2) Coco Chanel

Gabrielle Chanel was born in Saumur (France) in 1883. Twenty seven years later she opened her first shop in which she was creating elegant and simple hats for women.
Few years later, after an instant triumph of perfume No.5, ''little'' black dress and diamond necklaces she finally designed  in 1955 the most desirable bag in the world : CHANEL 2.55 quilted handbag, combining leather with a gold chain. New style of shoulder strap that is uniquely strong and light, and that allowed a woman's hands to remain free.

This product costs currently almost 5000$, also comes in different styles and colours. Obviously the original ones are the most expensive.

If you have ever wondered why these brands are actually famous for,  now you know and can feel like a specialist while shopping :D

Pillars of Morality:
 -Reciprocity //Fairness
 -Empathy//Compassion
Cooperation
Empathy  -Synchronization -Consolation
Prosocial Choice by Chimpanzees
Evolved Morality

FROM 0 TO 24.

Nowadays, one of the biggest problem of our society is body shaming. It mostly affects young girls and women (but not only). Social media created it and that's why it's current in many countries all over the world.
Lately companies are trying to promote the trend of loving ourselves and our bodies. They for example are effectuating ''plus sizes'' (from European 44+) and making brand new commercials including curvier women. That is a huge change in fashion industry and at the same time in society.
But not only official big brands have their role in it, also Khloe Kardashian. As she and her sisters are known for their unusual curves, she decided to use it in a good will. She has just launched brand new denim collection. Sizes starts from 0 and ends up to 24 (EU: 32-54). Khloe said that it was always really hard for her to get comfortable pair of jeans that actually suited her. She want to help let's say a little ''bigger'' ladies out there by creating clothing which was measured on 13 different types of body.  Before the jeans went on sale, Khloe and her Good American co-founder Emma came to the BuzzFeed office so that four employees — Caroline, April, Arielle, and Emma — could test-drive the jeans for the day.
Honestly, in my opinion the only struggle is the price: 149$-250$. But if you think it's affordable or simply worth the money, you will choose from high waisted, slim fit to boyfriend type jeans in many colour variations. She said ''Most women will spend on a fantastic pair of jeans as an investment.''
What do you think about this idea?

''Tootsie'' REVIEW

''Tootsie is a comedy directed in 1982 by an award-winning producer, director, actor and writer Sydney Pollack. This film is also known as ''Would I lie to you''.    The main character Michael Dorsey is an unemployed actor with a hopeless reputation. He disguises himself as a woman in order to get a role on a trashy hospital soap.

My first impression were the acting skills of the cast. Especially of Jessica Lange who impersonated in Julie. No wonder why she won an Oscar for the best supporting actress. Furthermore, Dustin Hoffman as Dorothy Michaels performed so well that he or maybe she almost left me speechless. What I also liked was the symbolical scenery of New York, which went really well with the script. As we know that city unites variety of people from many countries and that is similar to our main character who in some way was cumulating two different people in one body. This particular motif of a person who lost himself, doesn't really know who actually is or want to be is very significant nowadays. What's more, I believe it's a timeless problem that touches everyone in different periods of time.

These are just main aspects, that made me enjoy this film. It involves many parts of our life, on which we should probably focus more. I definitely recommend watching it, because it's funny, well made and leaves us with a need of reflections about how we behave or treat others and mainly ourselves.

WEAR OR PROTECT? ANIMALS.

It is no secret that animals used to be associated with high fashion. Their fur was especially combined with luxury. But time has changed and rules as well.
Of course, we can't forget the fact that spirit of evil is right by our side. There are still many brands which are using real fur or for ex. crocodile skin. (even after being accused). I'm talking about
Burberry (known for classic scarfs and coats).
Znalezione obrazy dla zapytania burberry fur
Maybe in a few years they'll change their behavior but for know as they have money and power they can do whatever they want to..

But let's jump into a brighter side of the world. More and more brands are protecting animals, which is great for our ''dying'' planet. Big companies such as H&M, Mango; designers: Stella McCartney or Michael Kors.
moda na jesień 2012 - futro
In addition to that, H&M in collaboration with KENZO have just realized their new collection that is dedicated to our little friends. Animal pattern, explosion of colours and comeback of famous tiger is a big thing now. Moreover, most of the revenue will be donated for animal protection and organizations against animal cruelty. Have a look:

Premiere of this enterprise in Warsaw stores will take place on 3th November '16.

I'm personally not a fan of real skin, fur etc. as it's extremely egoistic and atrocious so all these good changes are making my heart really happy. Let's carry on people!
